Library fines accrue for overdue, lost or damaged items.

Overdue Fees
Overdue fees for books are $.20/day; overdue fees for DVDs, CDs and video games are $1/day.

Lost & Damaged Items
Items returned with post-its, page markers, or bent pages will be charged $2 per page. Items returned with underlining or writing will be charged $1-5 per page. Items returned with permanent damage, including water, paint, ink and cut and torn pages will need to be replaced at the borrower's expense.

To view our complete fees and fines policies, visit the "Account & Policies" section at library.sva.edu.

To view your library fines, login to your library account in Vision. Click "My Account" and enter your SVA ID number and last name.

Next, you'll be able to view all of the items you have checked out, and any fines associated with those items. Your total fines will be listed in red.

The library forgives fines up to $20. If you have more than $20 in fines, you will not be able to check out library materials, register for classes, graduate, or get grades or transcripts.

To pay your fines, click "Higher One," and fill out the payment form. Payments are only accepted through this form; no cash or check payments can be accepted. There is a minimum payment amount of $2.

If you are in the library when you make your payment, show your payment receipt to staff at the circulation desk to have your fines forgiven. If you are out of the library when you make your payment, your payment will be received by the library's circulation managers, who will apply the payment amount to your library account.

For questions about SVA Library fines payments, email circmanager@sva.edu.

Please note, any fines associated with the Film Library are separate from your SVA Library fines, and must be paid there. Contact filmlibrary@sva.edu for questions.
