This procedure is used for placing items on hold for pickup at Library West or the Main Library. Items can be sent to Library West in the Fall and Spring semesters only.

Visit our Vision Catalog to search for books, DVDs, CDs, Exhibit Catalogs, Film Scripts, and Games. Login to your account by clicking "My Account" from the Vision splash page, or by clicking "Log in" from the main search interface:

 

 

Once you've searched and found an item you want, note whether it is already checked out by someone else, or if it is available. The DVD below has been checked out by someone else, so you could request a hold to be the next person in line to check it out. Click "Make a Request" from the right side of the record:

 

 

Next, the system will present you with two options, "Request here for items checked out" or "Request here for items on shelf." Since this item is checked out by someone else, you would click on "Request here for items checked out:"

 

Finally, you have the option of selecting whether to pick the item up at SVA Library Main or at SVA Library West. Make your selection, and click "Submit:"

You will receive an email notification to your SVA email address when the item is ready for pickup.

 


 

For items that are not checked out, and are available on the shelf, you can make a request to have the item held for pickup at the main library or Library West.

From the item record, note that the item is available, and click "Make a Request:"

 

In this case, you would select "Request here for items on shelf:"

 

Finally, choose where you want to pickup the item, and click Submit:

 

The item will be pulled from the shelf, and held for you at the location you chose. Please allow 24 hours to pickup items that are being sent across town.
